We are an established and impactful non-profit environmental organization that works to empower Hamiltonians to implement greener practices in their homes and communities to make our city a climate champion. We operate out of EcoHouse – a 1850s farmhouse in east Hamilton with 2 acres of gardens, and sustainable living demonstrations. Our team is focused on making positive environmental action happen every day and we use creativity, practical tools, and demonstrating environmental action to engage our community to achieve our mission. |About the Opportunity:
Green Venture has multiple positions available for Registered Energy Advisors (REAs). Training opportunities are available. With a high demand across Canada, Green Venture will equip REAs with all the right tools to promote career development. This position reports to the Energy Programs Manager. Positions are open in Oakville, Hamilton and the Niagara Region.
Further Requirements and Qualifications:
Completion of a criminal background check
Valid Ontario driver’s license, full G required
Access to a personal insured vehicle as well as being able to travel to (your) surrounding communities along with general and automotive liability coverage
Successful completion of the Foundation Level Exam is required prior to training. This can be written online or at a local exam centre. Candidates can register on NRCan’s Exam website
Green Venture can supply resources for exam preparation and candidate can sign up for third-party exam preparation courses, if needed
Additional training provided by Green Communities Canada (Service Organization) is required. This may be done online or at EcoHouse
Complete the NRCan Energy Advisor Exam
We can work with you to see which terms of employment will work best, whether that is a salaried employee or subcontractor
Knowledge or experience in Building Science, Home Construction, Home Inspections and/or related fields
Excellent customer service skills as well as a professional manner
Excellent verbal and written communication, highly organized, attention to detail with a positive attitude and interest in the Energy and Environment sectors
Analytical, problem solving and decision making skills as asset
Highly developed math and computer skills as asset
Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and Web Based Applications with an aptitude to learn internal software
Conduct residential energy evaluations using the EnerGuide for Houses system procedures
Prepare, present, and explain custom Home Energy Plans and labels to customers, following up as required
Promote and conduct follow up evaluations with residential customers
Collect accurate on-site data forms, measurements, and photos and submit completed reports within required timelines
Respond promptly to all issues and inquiries
Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions as required
